Assessment in store, today
Under the NSW pharmacist prescribing framework, our pharmacists can assess and treat uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women aged 18 to 65. You do not need a GP appointment and you do not need a referral. Walk in, ask for the pharmacist, and we will take you into the private consultation room.
The consultation is a structured set of questions about your symptoms, your history and any medicines you take. If your presentation meets the criteria, the pharmacist can supply treatment on the spot and give you clear advice on what to expect over the next few days.
When we refer you on
Not every urinary infection is one a pharmacist should treat, and we will say so plainly. Fever, back or flank pain, blood in the urine, pregnancy, recurrent infections, or symptoms in men or children all mean you need a doctor rather than us. In those cases the consultation still helps. You leave knowing what to do next and, where it is urgent, we will help you find same-day care.
This is a service, not a shortcut. Nothing we do replaces medical assessment where medical assessment is what you need.
Private, quick, local
We run this service every day we are open, for women from Annandale, Leichhardt, Stanmore, Lilyfield and Forest Lodge. The consultation room door closes; nobody in the shop hears anything. Most consultations take fifteen to twenty minutes.

Do I need to see a GP first?
No. Under the NSW pharmacist prescribing framework our pharmacists can assess and treat uncomplicated UTIs directly. If your symptoms fall outside that scope we will refer you to a doctor.
Who is eligible for the pharmacist service?
Women aged 18 to 65 with symptoms of an uncomplicated urinary tract infection. Eligibility is confirmed during the consultation.
Is there a fee?
Yes, there is a consultation fee, plus the cost of any treatment supplied. We will tell you the amount before we begin.
Is the consultation private?
Entirely. It happens in a closed consultation room, and what you tell the pharmacist is confidential health information handled the same way any clinical record is.
What if my symptoms do not improve?
Come back or see a doctor. We will explain the timeframe to expect at the consultation and what warning signs mean you should not wait.
